Palma – Valldemossa w Hiszpanii
The two most visited cities in Majorca are so different and so charming.
Our tour will start, of course, from Palma de Mallorca - the main city of the island - winding streets, wonderful mansions and restored buildings, surrounded by the ruins of the ancient city wall. The main architectural monument is the Cathedral, which is called the pearl of the Mediterranean. The Cathedral is one of the five largest Gothic churches in Europe.
Valldemossa is one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca, nestled in the hills of the Tramuntana mountain range, about 17 km from Palma. It is a quiet traditional town with narrow streets and alleyways, with white stone houses lined with beautiful green plants and flowers along their doorways. While walking around Valldemossa, you will often come across the image of St. Catalina Thomas, who is the patron saint of the city.
Valldemossa's most popular attraction is the 13th-century Carthusian Monastery, where Frederic Chopin and George Sand spent the winter of 1838–39. In the same place, George Sand wrote her work "Winter in Mallorca". During the tour, you will find a fascinating story about these times, about the difficult relationship between Frederic Chopin and George Sand, as well as the story of the first "tourist" of the island - Archduke Luis Salvador of Austria.
